Dual Diagnosis Treatment
A science-based approach to dual diagnosis care.
Using research-backed techniques supported by trusted brain science, we help patients manage complex addiction and mental health-related challenges. Every patient experiences multiple treatment modalities, including innovative therapies, with a focus on lasting recovery. Throughout the StoneRidge experience, an in-depth clinical and medical assessment guides treatment, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Understanding Dual Diagnosis
Dual diagnosis (also known as co-occurring disorders) is the term popularly used to describe patients who are struggling with both addiction and mental health challenges at the same time. For example, patients who experience a substance use disorder alongside a mental health condition such as bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) would be considered to have a dual diagnosis. Treating dual diagnosis can be complex, as the presence of both addiction and mental health disorders make it difficult for patients to manage either effectively.
StoneRidge Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program
The StoneRidge dual diagnosis treatment program begins with a combination of screening and assessments, including a nursing assessment, a psychiatric assessment, and a biopsychosocial assessment. From there, the StoneRidge team identifies the patient’s immediate clinical and medical needs and creates a multi-disciplinary treatment program for their time in our program. This treatment plan helps determine which of our many treatment modalities are best suited for the patient’s recovery. These modalities can include brain-centered treatments like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), qEEG/Brain Mapping, Spravato Therapy and Neurofeedback as well as clinical therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Because dual diagnosis can be complicated, we use a multi-faceted treatment approach that includes ongoing, hands-on support. Some aspects of dual diagnosis treatment may focus more intensely on addiction, including a medical detoxification, while others may be more focused on mental health needs, such as medication support and counseling. At StoneRidge, our focus is solely on the patient as a whole, not their diagnoses.
